Here’s what you’ll be up to…

 

As a Skilled Field Operator – Driver, you’ll play a key role in supporting the maintenance of Council’s public spaces, ensuring the safe transport of people, materials and equipment across the Penrith Local Government Area. 

 

You will:

 

  • Operate Council vehicles (including MR class) to safely transport workers, equipment and materials 
  • Load, secure and unload materials in line with Council and legislative requirements
  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance checks and reporting using Council systems 
  • Operate plant, tools and equipment across a range of public space maintenance activities 
  • Assist with general labouring duties as required 
  • Monitor traffic and site conditions to ensure safety at all times 
  • Provide high-quality customer service to internal stakeholders and the community
  • Work flexibly across multiple depots and contribute to a positive team environment


You’ll also utilise Mobility systems and contribute to continuous improvement through multi-skilling and training.

What are we looking for?

 

We’re looking for a reliable and safety-focused team player who enjoys hands-on work in an outdoor environment.

 

You’ll bring:

  • A current MR Driver Licence
  • Experience operating trucks, vans, trailers and small plant 
  • Demonstrated experience in general labouring duties 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team 
  • A commitment to safe work practices and WHS principles 


You’ll also hold:

  • White Card (Construction Industry) Desirable:
  • Experience in public space maintenance
  • Traffic Control (Blue Ticket)
  • Exposure to Local Government or related industries 

 

The must-know bits

You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.

 

Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.
