Qualified Butchery Manager

The Role:
We are currently looking for a trade qualified BUTCHERY MANAGER to own the Butchery Department operations within our IGA Mt Cotton. If you specialise in creating new and exciting gourmet products and have a passion for motivating and engaging a high performing team then read on!...

We are looking for someone who thrives working in a high-volume environment, has natural enthusiasm, is welcoming and engaging and has a strong passion for producing high quality products and providing outstanding customer service.

Reporting directly to the Store Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the following:

• Managing the team and operations of the butchery, including rostering

• Liaising and negotiating with suppliers to maintain a high quality product and achieve margin KPI's

• Manage and report on inventory, sales, merchandising and shrinkage

• Preparation of products, including cutting, trimming, and slicing

• Preparation of value-added, and marinated products

• Preparation of gourmet, and game meat

• Operation of machinery and equipment, including mincer, grinder, and band saw, etc.

• Packing, wrapping, and labeling products (as required)

• Attending to the Meat Cabinet, including displaying products, and maintaining presentation

• Providing exemplary customer service, including responding to enquiries and requests

• Maintaining general department cleanliness

• Compliance with all relevant legislation, including Food Safety, Trade Measurement, and Occupational Health & Safety, etc.

• Uphold and maintain all Policies & Procedures, including uniform standards

• Any other tasks as required by the specialist team and the Store Manager

What you'll need to succeed:

• Trade qualified butcher

• Experience in leading, training and motivating a team of butchers 

• Experience with gourmet production skills and sausage making

• Proficient in Merchandising

• Previous supermarket or retail experience an advantageous

• A passion for outstanding customer service

• Highly organised and efficient with good work ethic

• Ability to work in a fast paced team environment achieving KPI's

• Experience with retail ready products wholesaling would be advantageous

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

• Ability to adhere to all Policies & Procedures
