The Woodworker / Assembler – CNC Operator is responsible for the daily construction, assembly, and finishing of Castle & Cubby timber components and products. This role contributes directly to the production of high-quality, hand-crafted play and learning environments by performing accurate cuts, builds, and assemblies within the workshop.

In addition to woodworking, the role involves set up, operation and maintenance of CNC machinery for the manufacturing of product components and prototypes. The position supports collaboration with the Product Design Manager to bring new designs to life, ensuring they are executed accurately and efficiently.

This is a hands-on, multi-skilled role suited to an experienced woodworker with assembly experience (e.g., furniture, cabinetry, or joinery) who has foundational knowledge in operating CNC Routers and is eager to grow their technical capabilities within a dynamic and supportive production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Workshop Production & Assembly

• Build and assemble timber components and complete Castle & Cubby products to the required specifications and quality standards.

• Read and interpret technical drawings, build sheets, and assembly guides.

• Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all builds to ensure product consistency.

• Conduct quality control checks at each stage of the build process.

• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace.
  
  

CNC Operation

• Operate the CNC Flatbed Router for production runs as directed by the Workshop or Product Design Manager.

• Support in setting up, testing, and maintaining CNC programs and tooling.

• Conduct simple maintenance and cleaning routines to ensure smooth machine operation.

• Collaborate with the Product Design team to trial and refine new product components and prototypes.
  

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

• Proven experience in woodworking, joinery, cabinetry, or furniture assembly.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and build sheets.

• Hands-on experience with a range of woodworking tools and machinery.

• Basic to intermediate CNC router operation experience (setup, loading files, running jobs).

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.

• Reliable, motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

• Understanding of workshop safety procedures and compliance.
