About the role

Parklands Bakery is seeking an enthusiastic Baker Pastry Cook Apprentice to join our talented baking team in Caloundra. This is a full-time apprenticeship opportunity that will provide you with comprehensive training in both bread baking and pastry production. As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced bakers and pastry chefs, learning traditional and contemporary techniques whilst contributing to the production of high-quality baked goods for our customers. This role is essential to our operations, as it helps us maintain our commitment to excellence whilst developing the next generation of skilled bakers.

Key responsibilities

  1. Assisting in the preparation and baking of bread, cakes, pastries and other baked products under the supervision of experienced bakers

  2. Learning and applying proper food safety and hygiene practices in all baking operations

  3. Preparing ingredients, including measuring, mixing and kneading dough according to established recipes and standards

  4. Assisting with the operation and maintenance of baking equipment, including ovens, mixers and other specialist machinery

  5. Developing skills in pastry work, including laminating, filling, shaping and decorating pastries and desserts

  6. Supporting the production schedule to ensure timely completion of daily baking requirements

  7. Maintaining a clean and organised work environment, including cleaning equipment and workstations

  8. Following instructions from senior bakers and adhering to quality standards for all products

  9. Completing all required apprenticeship training and assessment tasks


What we're looking for

  1. Currently enrolled in or willing to enrol in an accredited Baker Pastry Cook apprenticeship programme

  2. A strong passion for baking and pastry work with genuine enthusiasm for the craft

  3. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and presentation

  4. Physical fitness and ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderately heavy items and work in a warm environment

  5. Excellent time management skills with the ability to work to strict deadlines

  6. A reliable, punctual and professional attitude towards work

  7. Willingness to learn and take on feedback from experienced team members

  8. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
