Urban Building Solutions Pty Ltd (UBS) is a growing company within the building insurance industry.  Having a large portfolio of national clients within insurance and strata, we are regarded as one of the most prominent insurance building service providers in Sydney.  Based in Summer Hill, UBS predominately operates throughout the Sydney and Newcastle and have recently expanded into south east Queensland

We are currently seeking a Carpenter / Leading Hand to join our team in Sydney. In this role you will be an integral member of the UBS team reporting to the Large Loss Supervisors and Project Manager. There is an opportunity for an immediate start however we are prepared to wait for the right person to join us.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Carpenter / Leading Hand. You will bring to the role your local experience to deliver quality work consistent with the UBS brand.  

In this role you will have the responsibility of completing site inspections, toolbox talks, site safety inspections and report back to the Large Loss Supervisor to provide updates on the progress of the jobs. You will be required to occasionally get on the tools to complete carpentry / handy man works or set up the site prior to trades commencing works.

The role will require you to work closely with our clients, administration team, suppliers, and sub-contractors to ensure the best possible outcome for our clients and customers. A strong customer service ethos is a must as is an honest work ethic.

The nature of our business requires occasional overtime to be worked as part of the role, particularly following major storm events. Equally we operate a friendly work environment where hard work is rewarded, and flexibility reciprocated.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

1.      Predominately working on large loss jobs - carrying out duties associated with the safety compliance, supervising trades, quality control assurance and carpentry works

2.      Reporting to large loss supervisors on a daily basis

3.      Attending multiple jobs throughout the day

4.      Be punctual and reliable to appointments scheduled by the supervisors

5.      Direct and regular contact with sub-contractors to ensure all works are completed to UBS standards

6.      Carry out dilapidation and progress photos

7.      Ensure Sub-contractors complete works in accordance with UBS standard and practices

8.      Communicate with the insured when on site

9.      Set up drying equipment and monitor moisture readings

10. Assist and ensure WHS requirements are met

Education & Qualifications:

1.      Valid Driver's License

2.      White card

Experience & Knowledge:

1.      Excellent relationship management & communication skills, both written and verbal

2.      Intermediate level of computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
