The Role

We are seeking a motivated Field/Laboratory Technician Trainee to join our mechanical team in Australia. This role is essential for supporting laboratory operations and ensuring the accuracy of testing and analysis. As a trainee, you will gain hands-on experience and perform high-precision calibrations and repairs on force and mechanical instrumentation, ensuring all work complies with NATA and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

You will have a Mechanical aptitude with strong hands-on ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems, load cells, and hydraulic leakages.

Responsibilities

  • Performing calibrations and tests in accordance with the Trescal Management System for both field and laboratory.
  • Performing fault finding and repairs to customer supplied instruments
  • Learning testing technologies and applying knowledge to customer support activities.
  • Customer Support on equipment enquires.
  • Recording service work performed in the TST Database and Calibration System Database
  • Researching spare parts and requesting spare parts purchases
  • Always maintain a safe working environment and alert management of any possible safety issues or recommendations.
  • Carrying out tasks allocated by the Team Leader or Laboratory Manager.
  • Willingness to travel to Regional NSW for jobs, when required.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have but not essential, technical qualifications and industry experience relevant to the technologies supported in the Laboratory

  • Not essential, but a Tertiary qualification with an appropriate degree and 2 or more years’ experience in the classes of test or;
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for data entry and analysis.

  • Normal working conditions, OT as required by the business and agreed by the employee.
