About the role

Sydney Premix Pty Ltd is seeking an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle / Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual in their 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of apprenticeship to develop practical skills and knowledge in heavy vehicle and diesel mechanics. This is a full-time position based in Pitt Town, NSW 2756. You will work alongside experienced mechanics in a professional workshop environment, gaining hands-on experience with heavy vehicles and diesel engines whilst completing your formal apprenticeship training.

What you'll be doing

  1. Assisting experienced mechanics in the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles and diesel engines

  2. Performing routine servicing tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks and adjustments

  3. Learning to use diagnostic equipment and tools to identify mechanical faults and issues

  4. Dismantling, inspecting and reassembling engine components and systems under supervision

  5. Maintaining a clean and safe workshop environment and adhering to health and safety procedures

  6. Keeping detailed records of work completed and parts used on vehicles

  7. Attending and participating in scheduled apprenticeship training and trade theory classes

  8. Assisting with vehicle inspections and pre-delivery checks

  9. Developing knowledge of heavy vehicle systems including electrical, hydraulic, brake and transmission systems

What we're looking for

  1. Currently enrolled in an active apprenticeship as a Heavy Vehicle or Diesel Mechanic (1st, 2nd or 3rd year)

  2. A genuine interest in automotive mechanics and heavy vehicle systems

  3. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when performing mechanical tasks

  4. Good manual dexterity and the physical ability to work in a workshop environment

  5. Ability to follow instructions and work safely with tools and equipment

  6. Reliable, punctual and committed to completing your apprenticeship

  7. A willingness to learn and ask questions to develop your skills

  8. Basic literacy and numeracy skills

  9. A valid driver's licence

  10. Understanding of workplace health and safety principles
