Join one of the NT’s leading civil and concreting contractors and support the tenders that secure the projects shaping the Territory.

Due to sustained project demand and ongoing shortages of skilled construction labour within the Northern Territory, Bear Claw is seeking experienced civil construction personnel.

We are seeking experienced candidates across the following civil construction roles:

  • Skilled Civil Labourers ($34.56 p/hr)

  • Civil Concreters ($40 - $50 p/hr)

  • Formworkers ($40 - $50 p/hr)

  • Plant Operators (excavators, loaders, rollers, skid steers etc.) ($40 - $50 p/hr)

These are full-time roles based in Darwin, Northern Territory, supporting long-term Defence projects.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on experience and role, duties may include:

  • Concrete placement, finishing, and curing

  • Formwork construction and reinforcement installation

  • Operation of civil construction plant and machinery

  • General civil labouring and site preparation

  • Maintaining strict safety, environmental, and quality standards

Skills & Experience Required

  • Demonstrated civil construction experience (2+ years preferred)

  • Relevant plant tickets, VOCs highly regarded (not essential)

  • Strong understanding of construction safety practices

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Construction White Card (or willingness to obtain

  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical, Drug & Alcohol testing, and Police Check

Job Descriptions:

Skilled Civil Labourers: Perform general civil labouring, site preparation, and housekeeping to maintain safe and productive work areas. Assist with concreting, formwork, steel fixing, and other construction activities as required. Support crews with material handling, stripping formwork, and preparing work fronts for construction. Maintain high safety standards and follow site procedures, instructions, and project requirements.

Civil Concreters: Place, spread, level, finish, and cure concrete to a high standard across civil construction projects. Construct formwork, install reinforcement, and assist with concrete preparation and placement activities. Operate screeds, trowels, and other concreting equipment to achieve quality finishes. Install embedded fixtures and carry out finishing works in accordance with project specifications.

Formworker: Set out, construct, install, and strip formwork systems for concrete structures and slabs. Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to ensure accurate formwork installation. Install and remove concrete forms, edge boards, and temporary works required for construction activities. Assist with concrete pours, finishing works, and general site construction duties when required.

Plant Operators (Excavators, Loaders, Rollers, Skid Steers etc.): Safely operate a range of civil construction plant and equipment across earthworks and infrastructure projects. Conduct daily pre-start inspections, routine maintenance, and minor adjustments to equipment. Perform excavation, loading, grading, compaction, and material handling activities in accordance with project requirements.
Work closely with site supervisors and ground crews to ensure safe and efficient operations.
