Lead a high-performing workshop in Greystanes NSW!

Our client is seeking a hands-on Workshop Manager to oversee the servicing and maintenance of a modern fleet of refrigerated vehicles. If you take pride in high standards, enjoy leading from the front, and want to work in a clean, well-run environment, this could be the role for you.

About the role

As the Service Manager, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day service requirements of the fleet, working closely with a small team in a brand-new workshop. This is a hands-on leadership role, suited to someone who leads by example and values quality, organisation, and efficiency.

The role is primarily workshop-based, with minimal field service work required.

Your responsibilities

  • Oversee the servicing, preventative maintenance, and repair of a modern refrigerated vehicle fleet
  • Work hands-on in the workshop alongside your team — this is a lead-from-the-front role
  • Manage daily workflow, job scheduling, and workshop efficiency
  • Maintain vehicles to the highest mechanical and presentation standards
  • Ensure the workshop is clean, safe, organised, and fully compliant with heavy vehicle regulations
  • Support, mentor, and guide workshop staff including a dedicated Trades Assistant
  • Liaise with the depot operations team on fleet availability and maintenance priorities

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Trade qualification in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (Heavy Diesel Technician) — this is the preferred background given the nature of the fleet
  • Solid experience working on heavy vehicles: diesel engines, air brake systems, drivetrain, and associated electrical/electronic diagnostics
  • Familiarity with refrigerated body units (Thermo King, Carrier, or similar) — highly advantageous
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a workshop environment
  • Strong understanding of heavy vehicle compliance, roadworthiness, and HVNL obligations
  • Organised, proactive, and quality-driven — someone who takes pride in their work and holds their team to the same standard

Also Considered

Candidates with a Light Vehicle qualification will be considered if they have substantial hands-on experience with refrigerated trucks, light commercial fleet vehicles (Isuzu NLR, Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit), or a demonstrated history of cross-skilling into heavy commercial servicing.

Why join this team?

  • Modern fleet (majority under 4 years old)
  • Brand-new, clean workshop environment with the opportunity to be part of the setup and shape your own workspace.
  • Stable, full-time weekday hours (7:00am – 3:30pm)
  • Supportive and well-structured operation
  • Opportunity to take ownership and make the role your own
  • Support from a dedicated Trades Assistant working alongside you in the workshop

If you're a trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Technician ready to step into a leadership role — or an experienced workshop leader with a strong heavy vehicle background — we'd love to hear from you.

Submit your CV and a brief cover letter via the Apply button. Tell us about your trade background, the types of vehicles you've worked on, and what draws you to a leadership role.
