Wood Machinist

About the role:

AAM have a full-time permanent position available for a trade qualified Wood Machinist who knows timber, tooling and setups. You will be responsible for setting up and running multi-head moulders, planer, managing tooling, profiles and changeovers, and ensuring finish quality is right the first time.

Our Bathurst, NSW site is a mid-tier radiata sawmill company processing approximately 90,000m3 small saw logs with plans to grow. The mill is a modern Hewsaw SL200 sawline with fully optimised automation to gain high recovery and productivity. Other onsite facilities include a timber treatment plant, kiln drying and a dry mill.

What we're looking for:

• Trade qualified Wood Machinist, or other trade with wood machining experience. 

• Demonstrated ability to safely set up and operate a range of machinery with precision and care.

• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate manufacturing of timber components.

• Perform routine maintenance and adjustments on machinery to maintain optimal operating conditions.

• Work collaboratively with the Management and the production team to ensure efficient and timely completion of orders.

• Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to all relevant safety protocols.

• Ability to work day shift, afternoon shift or flexible hours as per operational requirements. 

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

• Must have a safety mindset and be a strong team player.
