MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
to provide counselling services to clients of all ages affected by the death of a loved one by a criminal road trauma death- via face-to-face counselling at Grace's Place or in the client's home - via Zoom or other AVL - via telephone
to facilitate Support Meetings at locations around NSW, with an emphasis on regional support.
to facilitate the administration and running of the 24 hour support line, including after hours on-call back up to volunteer telephone workers
to co-facilitate Therapy Weekends for clients affected by road trauma.
to liaise and collaborate with allied services e.g. NSW Police, Victims Services, Victims Registers, Office of Director of Public Prosecutions
to participate in ongoing RTSG advocacy and development projects focusing on the needs of family members.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Counselling
A Diploma level qualification in counselling is required as the minimum tertiary qualification.
PACFA registration is required for this position.
Current Australian work rights are required for this position.
Experience:
Essential
Experience in counselling – children and/or adults
A minimum of 2-5 years of counselling experience is required.
Life experience - the nature of this work is challenging and requires a resilience from acquired knowledge of human existence and its problems
Desirable
Experience in grief & trauma counselling
Experience in working with children
Experience in working with victims of crime
Experience in telephone counselling e.g. Lifeline
Skills:
Excellent verbal communication skills
Ability to work empathetically within expectations and principles of the organisation, while maintaining firm professional boundaries
Advanced self-awareness and practice of self-care strategies
Excellent time management skills
Ability to maintain confidential case notes
Ability to manage an ongoing caseload
Ability to work autonomously, but also collaboratively as a member of a team
Ability to work with and supervise volunteers
Competent computer/database skills
Current full NSW Driver's License
Salary: As per SCHCADS Award – level commensurate with experience
