About The Organisation

TUC Cleaning Co is an initiative of The Underground Collaborative, a Perth-based social enterprise that builds capacity through employment, education and empowerment for women who have experienced family and domestic violence and at-risk young people.

TUC Cleaning Co is a new builders and sparkle cleaning initiative for the post-construction industry designed to provide award-wage employment and wraparound support in a supportive, values-led environment.

About The Role

As Team Leader, you will play a key role in overseeing daily operations of TUC Cleaning Co. This includes supervising cleaning jobs across various sites, supporting and mentoring Team Members (many of whom are entering employment for the first time or have been out of work for an extended period of time), ensuring safety and quality standards, and maintaining strong client relationships.

You’ll be an experienced and reliable leader who is passionate about supporting people from disadvantaged backgrounds to succeed in the workplace. You’ll lead by example -balancing practical cleaning work with trauma-informed support and team development and will assist Team Members become work-ready. 

While managing the day-to-day operational needs of your team, you will foster positive stakeholder relationships, exceed our clients’ expectations, and ensure that we add value to our client portfolio. A sound understanding of commercial cleaning operations and service delivery is key to success in this role.

Ideally you will have a mix of attributes and experience, however of most importance is your willingness to making a difference and supporting the cleaning team.

This will initially be a casual role as the business ramps up with the view to transition to part-time and potentially full-time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team on-site delivering builders and sparkle (post-construction) cleans across Perth

  • Ensure all work is completed to high quality and safety standards

  • Provide hands-on training and mentoring to new employees

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture

  • Complete job checklists, site documentation, and quality assurance tasks

  • Communicate with clients and the CEO to coordinate bookings and logistics

  • Build and maintain a professional relationship with all stakeholders, including clients and contractors

  • Maintain appropriate storage and use of chemicals

  • Monitor supplies and equipment, reporting maintenance needs

  • Oversee laundry duties, including removal and replacement of old/dirty cleaning cloths, sorting, folding and storage

  • Model TUC’s values of respect, empowerment, and integrity in all work

  • Provide holistic, positive guidance and support to Team Members as you assist them to become work ready

About You

  • Minimum 2 years of professional cleaning experience (builders cleans preferred)

  • Experience supervising a team or mentoring staff

  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and the ability to support people with barriers to employment desirable

  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong time management skills and ability to effectively manage a range of tasks and responsibilities

  • Reliable, organised, and values-driven

  • Holds

    • WA Driver’s Licence

    • White Card (or willing to obtain)

    • National Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)

    • First Aid Certificate (desirable)
