Spray Painter - MotorOne Autobody Northgate

About the role

MotorOne Autobody is seeking a skilled and dedicated Spray Painter to join our team at our Northgate location. This is a full-time position based in Northgate QLD . As a Spray Painter, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality paint finishes to vehicle bodies, ensuring that every vehicle leaving our facility meets our exacting standards. This position is integral to our operations, directly contributing to customer satisfaction and the reputation of MotorOne Autobody.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle surfaces through sanding, cleaning, and priming to ensure optimal paint adhesion

• Mix and match paint colours accurately to meet specification requirements and customer expectations

• Apply paint coatings using spray equipment, ensuring even coverage and a professional finish

• Operate and maintain spray painting equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety standards

• Inspect finished work to identify any defects or areas requiring touch-ups or refinishing

• Follow all health and safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the spray booth and surrounding work areas

• Communicate effectively with the autobody team to ensure workflow efficiency and consistency

• Document work completed and maintain accurate records of paint batches and applications

What we're looking for

• Formal qualification or apprenticeship in spray painting or automotive refinishing

• Proven experience working as a spray painter in an automotive body shop or similar environment

• Strong technical knowledge of surface preparation, paint application techniques, and coating systems

• Ability to colour match and understand paint mixing ratios and viscosity requirements

• Proficiency in operating spray equipment, including HVLP and conventional spray guns

• Understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to spray painting, including WorkCover requirements

• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality finishes

• Strong work ethic and reliability, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Good communication skills and the ability to take direction and feedback constructively

• Physical capability to perform the demands of the role, including standing for extended periods
