Mechanic (Service Technician) - HV Repairs Workshop – VIC

Howard Porter 

$45 – $50 per hour

 THE BUSINESS:

STEELBRO has vacancy for a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or qualified trailer mechanic at its Sunshine West (VIC) repairs and service facility mainly repairing and servicing sideloaders but may also perform repairs and servicing on other trailer types. This is full time position and based in Industrial Drive, Sunshine West (VIC) branch.    

 Successful applicants will have: 

  • Have good knowledge of general mechanics, i.e side loaders, heavy vehicles and/or automotive mobile plant, hydraulics and welding.

  • Good sense and ability in fault finding and solutions generation and implementation, 

  • Able to follow correct procedures & processes, 

  • Good working knowledge of OS&H and Environmental practices.


Skills, Qualifications and Experience: 

  • A Cert III (Trades Qualification in heavy vehicle mechanics, diesel mechanic or similar) is required.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanics, fault finding and repair solution generation and implementation.

  • Strong communication and time management skills.

  • Be organised and self-motivated.

  • Experience in the repairs of heavy vehicle brakes and suspensions is advantageous.

  • Hourly rate of 40 to 50 per hour + penalty rates for hours performed over 38 hours per week.
