Lead HVAC Installer / Mechanical Plumber

Vehicle + Super + OT | Build Our HVAC Division

Elite Trades Australia is growing our HVAC division and we are looking for a serious operator — not just another installer.

We want a mechanical plumber / HVAC technician / senior air conditioning installer who can run jobs properly, manage themselves, take ownership of quality, and help us build a team around them.

This role is for someone who wants more than just turning up, installing a unit, and going home. You will be trusted to run your day, manage site outcomes, communicate clearly, and help shape how our HVAC division operates.

We are based in Laverton North and complete work across Melbourne.

What you'll be doing

You will be installing and managing HVAC jobs including:

• Single-head split systems

• Multi-head split systems

• Ducted refrigerated systems

• System upgrades and replacements

• Residential and light commercial HVAC work

• Site checks, install planning and job handovers

• Managing apprentices, labourers or subcontractors as the team grows

• Helping improve install standards, workflows and quality control

You will be expected to own the job from start to finish — not wait for someone to hold your hand.

What we're looking for

We want someone who:

• Has strong HVAC installation experience

• Minimum 2-3 years of HVAC installation experience is required

• Can run jobs without being chased all day

• Takes pride in clean, compliant, high-quality installs

• Can deal professionally with customers, builders and internal staff

• Can plan ahead, order what is needed and avoid messy reattends

• Is calm under pressure and can solve problems on site

• Wants to grow into a leading hand / supervisor / division leader role

• Can help train and build a strong HVAC crew underneath them

This is not a role for someone who needs constant supervision.

Licences / experience required

Ideally you will have:

• Current driver's licence

• Mechanical plumbing registration/licence or strong HVAC trade background

• Mechanical plumbing registration/licence is mandatory for this position

• ARC refrigerant handling licence suitable for the work you perform

• Experience with split systems, multi-heads and ducted installs

• Ability to read scopes, plan jobs and complete handovers properly

• White Card

• Strong attention to compliance, photos, commissioning and paperwork

Gas, electrical awareness, plumbing background or experience in heat pumps is also highly regarded.
