Team Member Water and Wastewater (Tumut)

THE JOB

Are you looking for a hands-on role where you can make a positive contribution to the provision of essential community infrastructure? We are seeking a motivated and capable person to join our Water and Wastewater Team based in Tumut.

You will contribute to the delivery of works that provide safe and reliable water and sewer services. You will be involved in the construction and renewal of water and sewer infrastructure working with pipelines, valves, hydrants, manholes, service connections and associated assets.

This is a hands-on, physical role that involves both planned and reactive work, including participation in a rotating on-call roster which includes after-hours, weekend and public holiday work to respond to system faults and emergency repairs. You will also provide relief support for the operators in charge of the water and wastewater treatment plants.

You will work both independently and as part of a team, ensuring works are completed safely and to the required standards.

Essential

1. Contemporary knowledge and or relevant qualifications in the application of plumbing principles and practices.

2. Demonstrated ability to work safely in a heavy labouring environment.

3. Demonstrated ability to operate minor plant and equipment correctly and safely.

4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

5. Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).

6. Undertake or be tested for Hepatitis A & B and tetanus vaccinations

7. You will be required to complete work in the plants every fourth (4th) weekend and be on call one (1) in every eight (8) weeks as required by the Team Leader Water & Wastewater, you will also be required to work some public holidays.

8. Actively participate and complete weekend work in both the Water and Sewer plants as rostered.

Desirable

1. Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies Operation Certificate.

2. Water Operator Qualifications and/or experience operating Sewer Plants/Water Plants with a commitment and ability to obtain required qualifications.

3. Liquid Trade Waste Certificate.

4. Confined Space Ticket.

5. Class MR drivers’ licence.

THE BENEFITS

• Fortnightly salary range of $2,265.40 to $2,549.80 per fortnight (gross) plus 12% superannuation.  Salary offered within the range will be negotiated based on qualifications, skills and experience

• Regular industry allowances in addition to salary

• This is a permanent, full time position of 76 hours per fortnight working on a 9 day fortnight arrangement with an RDO every second Friday

• Generous leave entitlements including access to long service leave after 5 years and paid parental leave
