Full time
Weld it right the first time. Every time.
Key Points
Hands-on fabrication role in a growing steel framing operation
Clear level structure with defined pathways to advancement
Modern Larapinta facility with strong safety and quality standards
The Opportunity
As a Welder / Fabricator at Steelcraft Framing, you will be responsible for safely fabricating and welding structural and light-gauge steel components to drawing and specification. Your work directly supports factory throughput, downstream installation quality and on-time delivery across our framing operation.
This is a role for someone who takes ownership of their output, accurate work, first time, every time. We run a levelled structure from entry through to advanced fabricators, with clear competency requirements at each stage. Where you start depends on what you bring; where you go depends on what you demonstrate.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 30 days, you will have:
Passed our internal weld test to the required standard
Demonstrated safe welding practice and PPE compliance from day one
Understood our drawings, workflow and quality expectations
Ongoing success is measured by:
Safe work practices consistently demonstrated — no exceptions
Weld quality that meets Steelcraft standard with minimal rework
Components completed accurately, to specification and ready for the next process
Defects identified and escalated early — not passed downstream
Reliable attendance, punctuality and positive contribution to the team
What You Will Own
MIG welding and fabrication of structural and light-gauge steel components
Reading and interpreting Steelcraft fabrication drawings accurately
Inspecting your own work and maintaining first-time-right standards
Safe use of hand tools, grinders, cutting equipment and (at higher levels) overhead crane and forklift
Maintaining a clean, organised and compliant welding area
Identifying hazards, drawing errors or quality issues and escalating early
About You
You are a reliable welder who takes quality seriously and works safely without being told twice.
You will bring:
Demonstrated MIG welding experience in a production or fabrication environment
Ability to read fabrication drawings and follow instructions accurately
A disciplined approach to quality, you inspect your own work, and you care about the outcome
Solid WHS awareness including hot work controls, PPE and safe work practices
A forklift licence
A willingness to support teammates and contribute to production flow
Experience in steel framing, structural fabrication or light-gauge steel is highly regarded. What matters most is weld quality, reliability and work ethic.
This Role Is Not for You If
You cut corners on safety or quality when no one is watching
Rework doesn't bother you
You need to be told what to do every step of the way
You struggle with drawings or precision fabrication requirements
Why Steelcraft Group
Clear level structure with defined competency milestones and pay progression
Modern Larapinta facility with ongoing investment in equipment and capability
Strong team culture built on accountability, quality and trust
A business that is growing — and promoting from within as it does
If you take pride in your weld quality and want to work in an operation that holds a high standard, we want to hear from you.
