About the Role
Maincrew is seeking an experienced HD Fitter / Truck & Trailer Mechanic. Dual ticketed Auto Electricians please also apply.
This position is suited to a mechanically strong all-rounder who is confident working across heavy earthmoving equipment, trucks and trailers. You will be responsible for servicing, diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance to keep equipment safe, reliable and ready for site operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong fault-finding ability, a practical attitude and experience working in civil, mining, transport, earthmoving or contractor environments.
What You’ll Be Doing
Carrying out servicing, repairs and maintenance on civil earthmoving equipment
Working across trucks, trailers, loaders, excavators, graders, rollers and other mobile plant
Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults
Completing breakdown repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance
Conducting inspections and identifying safety or mechanical issues
Maintaining accurate service records and job documentation
Supporting workshop and field-based maintenance requirements
Working safely in line with site, workshop and company procedures
Liaising with operators, supervisors and the maintenance team to minimise downtime
Keeping equipment, tools and work areas clean, safe and organised
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Trade qualification
Experience working on civil earthmoving equipment
Strong truck and trailer mechanical experience
Sound diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Experience with hydraulics, engines, driveline, brakes and general mechanical repairs
Current Australian Driver’s Licence
Ability to work safely and independently
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Reliable, flexible and team-focused attitude
Highly regarded:
Experience with civil contractors or earthmoving fleets
Experience working on both workshop and field service repairs
HR, HC or MC licence
Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights or other relevant tickets
Welding and fabrication skills
Auto electrical knowledge and skills
FMG or RIO TINTO inductions
